This was at my school when Fred Phelp's Westboro Baptist Church came to protest Judy Shephard, mother of Mathew Shephard, speaking for human rights at my school (not simply gay ones). They protested the local paper as well as my school. I have never met such a hateful group if individuals in my life.
These kids in particular have my pity. They have no idea what they were doing or saying. The one on the left was much more vocal and he screamed at the top of his little lungs "God hates fags! Thank God For Dead Soldiers! Fags Caused Katrina! Fags Doom Nations! Matthew Shephard Went to Hell! Aids Cures Fags!" and etc. It was just surreal to hear a child scream these things. They don't understand the hatred that their parents are instilling in them, and, they most likely never will get beyond it. At this young age they are simply something to be thrown at the media. Look at them, they are still kids, they are standing there smiling like they were told (honestly, when I said, "smile!" they did so like trained dogs faster than I could blink. They were taught how to act in front of cameras) and that one is crossing his legs and they are still adorable, innocent children. They do not belong in this. It is just horrible that they are used like this regardless of what they are saying. They shouldn't be involved, they should be back in their home in Kansas, going to school and having a good time with their friends. Surely, considering the relatively small size of the WBC and the distance away, they go all over for this. This is not well framed, it is not a pretty picture, but it documents this. I think this one best shows that they are still kids regardless of all of this. |

just imaginary....
Sadly, children usually will have their parent's view forced upon them. Hopefully when they get older their minds will open up.
Churches simply do not know what they're talking about now days.
If they even opened the bible, they'd know... that God LOVES every single man and woman on this earth. And that we're all sinners, and that he forgives each of us.
The fact that they would use such an intense and vulgar word.... 'hate'... that simply amazes me.
It's people like that, that give Christians a repulsive reputation. *sigh* Oh well.
I like what you've captured though, that they are just innocent children.
Nice work.
